DESCRIPTION:Disclaimer: This course offers the opportunity to attend lect
 ures selectively\, based on individual needs and knowledge levels. Partici
 pants are not required to attend all sessions as some may cover advanced o
 r basic material. While flexibility is offered\, it is important to assess
  personal needs and choose sessions accordingly\, as attending lectures ou
 t of order may result in knowledge gaps.\nResearch Centre Jülich provides
  cutting-edge high-performance computing resources to scientific groups an
 d industry partners across Germany and Europe via the John von Neumann Ins
 titute for Computing. To help new users of JSC's supercomputers efficientl
 y leverage their allocated resources\, we offer an introductory course tha
 t covers system basics and best practices. The course includes theoretica
 l lectures held every afternoon from Monday to Thursday\, and practical tu
 torials offered in the mornings from Tuesday to Thursday. The tutorials ar
 e based on the previous afternoon's lectures and allow articipants to put 
 theory into practice. We cover a wide range of topics\, starting from basi
 c log-in procedures to intermediate-level techniques. Participants are fre
 e to choose the lectures that best match their needs and interests.\nTopic
 s covered include:\n\nUser account management with the JuDoor portal\nSyst
 em access via SSH\, Jupyter\, and UNICORE\nSystem configuration for JURECA
  and JUWELS\nFile systems\, I/O\, and data management\nSoftware modules (c
 ompilers\, MPI\, math libraries\, applications\, debuggers\, tools)\nBuild
 ing software from source\nSubmitting jobs via the resource manager\nUsing 
 GPUs\nPerformance tuning\nDeep Learning\nVisualization\n\nPrerequisites:\n
 \nYour own laptop with Windows\, GNU/Linux or macOS installed\nKnowledge o
 f either C\, C++ or Fortran (helpful)\n\nA personal institutional email ad
 dress (university/research institution\, government agency\, organisation\
 , or company) is required to register for JSC training courses. If you don
