DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Oskar Klimas (ACC Cyfronet AGH)\, Klemens Noga (ACC
Cyfronet AGH)\n\nThe training focuses on running and analyzing the scalabi
lity tests. \nScalability tests allow to tune the amount of resources for
the job being run. During this training you will learn what scalability t
ests are and how to interpret their results. Then how to apply that knowle
dge to your calculations.\nLevel\n\nTarget audience\nTraining is intended
for users who started running their own calculations and need to learn how
to give the right amount of resources to the job at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \n
Agenda\n\nIntranode and perfect scaling\, and how it is unattainable in re
al calculations\,\nMultinode scaling and parallelization overhead\,\nHands
-on scaling tests\,\nCPU vs GPU power and multiple GPU scaling\,\nReal lif
e case: specific Ares to Athena transfer issue analyzed\n\nRequirements\nW
e recommend doing this training after familiarizing with the contents of R
unning Calculations the HPC way training provided at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \
 nTechnical prerequisites:\n\nPLGrid account at https://portal.plgrid.pl/\n
\nspecify your PLGrid login in the registration form\,\nif you don't have
it please follow our guide: https://guide.plgrid.pl/en/portal-for-science/
 profile\; \n\n\nan active affiliation at https://portal.plgrid.pl/users/a
ffiliations\;\naccepting the invitation to the training in PLGrid Portal a
t https://portal.plgrid.pl/training_invitations once it is sent by the Tra
ining Team\, for security reasons\, the invitation will be sent no sooner
than a couple of days before the training\;\nSSH connection through Window
s Terminal or other means (see below)\;\nattending the dry-run (see below)
.\n\nIn case of no active affiliation or PLGrid account\, please contact t
he organisers at training@cyfronet.pl. \nParticipants' computers should
be equipped with software that allows SSH connections. On Windows\, it is
recommended to use Windows Terminal (not to be confused with Powershell af
ter checking if OpenSSH is installed (run ssh -V in the terminal). We advi
 se against using Putty.\nAt 10:00 am on 17th August 2026\, a dry-run will
be held - participation in the dry-run is a prerequisite to join the train
ing\, attendance will be marked based on Zoom participant list.. Participa
nts will learn how to log in to the Ares supercomputer before the training
and resolve any problems with the Training Team. In case you cannot come
to the dry-run\, please inform us directly at training@cyfronet.pl\, other
wise your registration will be cancelled. Please attend the dry-run even i
f your affiliation is not active.\nVenue\nThe workshop will be conducted o
nline on the Zoom platform. The meeting link will be sent to registered pa
 rticipants.\nLanguage\nEnglish\nDuration\n3 hours\nRegistration\nThe Regis
tration and the Waiting list close automatically after 14th August 2026. T
he Registration may close prematurely if the limit number of participants
is hit beforehand\, but the Waiting List will be available until the deadl
ine above. Please use this link to register https://events.plgrid.pl/e/202
