DESCRIPTION:Contents\nThe Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) is pleased t
o announce the Life and Material Science Bootcamp 2026\, a program designe
d to support and train the next generation of high-performance computing (
HPC) users on the Intel GPU based SuperMUC-NG Phase 2 system. The initiati
ve aims to help young researchers in Computational Biology and Bioinformat
ics\, Chemistry and Material Sciences to develop scalable simulation workf
lows while gaining hands-on experience with modern HPC architectures and l
arge-scale scientific computing. The goal is to produce a successfull pro
posal for compute time with technical guidance from LRZ.\nWho Can Apply?\n
Master students and PhD candidates can apply\, but will require their advi
sor to act as principle investigator for the compute time application. Pos
tdoctoral researchers can apply independantly\, but should not have prior
compute time allocations from GCS\, the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing. A
pplicants must be affiliated with a German university or research institut
ion. Prior experience with HPC systems is beneficial\, but not required.\n
Software\nThe software must use the Intel Data Center GPU Max 1550 on Supe
rMUC-NG Phase 2.\nApplications that are already supported on SuperMUC-NG P
hase 2 include AMBER\, GROMACS\, LAMMPS\, VASP and CP2K. If you intend to
use other software\, please check early for Intel GPU support.\nTimeline\n
 Application deadline: 3. August\, 2026Notification of results: 15. August\
 , 2026Kickoff with project presentation: 17. September\,  2026Project end
 s 3. December\, 2026\nApplication \nApplicants should submit a short proj
ect description (max. 2 pages) covering the scientific objectives\, comput
ational methods and software to be used\, and the expected benefit from ac
cess to the SuperMUC-NG Phase 2 system.\nMail your project description or
questions to biolab@lrz.de\nWhat to expect\n\nLearn the efficient use of
advanced HPC resources\nDevelopment scalable scientific applications\nTrai
 n on the SuperMUC-NG Phase 2 system\nGet a test project with up to 5\,000
GPU-h\nProduce and present scaling data and estimate required compute time
.\nWrite a full compute time proposal.\n\nWe encourage motivated young res
earchers to take advantage of this opportunity and explore the capabilitie
 s of modern large-scale HPC systems.\n\nhttps://events.hpc-portal.eu/event
